Among these, we would like to provide a detailed explanation of two key changes that Maplers have been curious about: 5th Job Advancement and the future direction of updates, as well as reward balance adjustments.

5th Job Advancement and Future Update Direction

The 5th Job Advancement has been designed not merely to make characters stronger, but to elevate the overall gameplay experience across Skill, Equipment, Field, and Boss.

Our primary goal is to ensure that Maplers consistently feel the sense of Mapler’s character growing and evolving over time.

This commitment to delivering a meaningful growth experience directly influences the direction of our updates.

MapleStory N does not aim to follow the original game’s update sequence.

As we have done so far, our focus is not on simple version updates following the path of the past, but on optimizing and introducing the content and systems most essential for Maplers, tailored to our unique environment. This approach will remain unchanged moving forward.

Compared to the original, we promise to deliver updates at a faster pace, enriched with MapleStory N’s own interpretation and design such as introducing new regions yet to be revealed, formidable bosses, the latest convenience features, and expanded job classes.

Reward Balancing Direction

In line with this new era of growth, we are implementing comprehensive adjustments to in-game reward balance.

The core principle of this adjustment is: the stronger your character is, the greater the rewards Mapler will receive.

To achieve this, we have refined the system to discourage gameplay focused on creating and rotating multiple characters simply to farm rewards. Instead, we have designed it so that focusing on the growth of Mapler’s main character feels more rewarding.

We have reduced the amount of NESO placed per cycle in fields and bosses below level 190.

Conversely, the amount of NESO allocated per cycle for weekly boss NESO rewards have been increased by 150% compared to before, allowing players who challenge higher-difficulty content to earn greater reward.

Additionally, the key resource for 5th Job growth, Nodestone, will now primarily be obtained through bosses, ensuring that your efforts toward growth translate into faster opportunities for advancement.

Furthermore, we have introduced the Pure Boss Essence system, which manages boss play counts at the account level to preserve the long-term value of boss rewards.

The sense of achievement from growth extends to our new event system as well. Through the Temple of Time Training Chamber event, which allows Maplers to earn EXP and Neso rewards even during idle play based on your Mu Lung Dojo clear records, we aim to move towards gradually reducing repetitive hunting while further enhancing the sense of achievement that comes with growth.

Dear Maplers,

We are sharing an important update regarding a serious incident that has recently come to our attention. Today, just before the weekly boss reward settlement, we identified seven characters that defeated Lotus and Damien—top-tier bosses that cannot be cleared under those character's strength. These characters collected the boss rewards, converted them into NXPC, and subsequently bridged them out of the Henesys L1.

Upon analyzing their equipment and combat data, we confirmed that clearing these bosses was physically impossible with their specs, and unauthorized third-party software (hacks) was used. These accounts, as well as the associated “banker” wallets that exchanged items with them for free, have been found in violation of our Terms of Use and have been permanently banned.

Moreover, this incident is not isolated to just a few characters. We suspect similar abnormal behaviors may exist in other weekly and daily bosses beyond Lotus and Damien. We have therefore launched a full-scale investigation. Beyond just banning violators, we are implementing a multi-layered detection system that analyzes factors such as level, equipment, clear time, and combat patterns to ensure that under-spec characters cannot attempt or benefit from such behavior in the future.

We do not take this issue lightly. For MapleStory Universe team, this is not a short-term concern — it is our top-priority operational challenge. MapleStory has faced similar threats in Web2 games for over 20 years. Each time, strong and sustained responses have enabled us to maintain and grow our services over the long term.

We anticipated these risks in MapleStory Universe, and even before this incident, we had been enforcing anti-cheat measures that lead to more than 10,000 account sanctions per day. However, as MapleStory Universe has grown faster and attracted more attention than expected, the scale and speed of such threats have escalated—demanding stronger and more comprehensive action.

Going forward, we are mobilizing all of our people, data analysis capabilities, and technical expertise to structurally eliminate botter and hack abuse. We acknowledge that this effort may result in temporary inconvenience or restrictions for some legitimate players, and we are preparing a parallel user care process to minimize any negative impact.

We are also taking the ongoing bot activity in normal fields with utmost seriousness. Thousands of accounts are being automatically and manually sanctioned daily, and botters are continually evolving their evasion methods. We are actively tracking and responding to these developments.

The core issue lies in the structure of Web3: since wallet creation is virtually costless, there is no meaningful risk in retrying after being sanctioned. This makes it possible for bad actors to exploit the system repeatedly without consequence.

To address this, we are designing a system that imposes a structural cost to such attempts. While the system will be minimal friction to normal users, it will discourage repeated trial-and-error behavior by bot and hack operators. This mechanism is under rapid development, and we will share more details as we finalize its rollout.

In parallel, we are improving the efficiency of our manual patrol enforcement system, which handles hundreds to thousands of cases daily. We are enhancing our detection-to-action pipeline to make real-time enforcement faster and more effective.

We will share our technical findings and roadmap for mid-to-long-term countermeasures once they are ready to be released in a structured manner.

Lastly, we sincerely apologize for the concern and inconvenience this incident may have caused. The MapleStory Universe team remains fully committed to delivering a game environment where all Maplers can play with fairness and trust.

This note provides an overview of the Dynamic Pricing System—the mechanism that determines enhancement item pricing in MapleStory N.

What is the System?

MapleStory N features a player-participatory in-game economy, unlike traditional MMORPGs.

Instead of using fixed prices, the system is designed to dynamically adjust enhancement costs in real time based on player behavior data—specifically, enhancement attempts.

The system aims to distribute in-game resources naturally and efficiently according to player activity patterns.

This structure supports a balanced supply between high-demand and low-demand items, ensuring that player choices are reflected directly in the in-game economy.

How Does It Work?

The pricing process consists of two core stages:

1. Price Discovery Step

This stage is triggered when an item is newly introduced or enters a new enhancement range. To identify the price players are willing to pay, the system updates the cost every 60 seconds based on whether enhancements are attempted.

This initial period serves as a data collection phase, where prices may fluctuate significantly.

2. Price Change Step

Once a sufficient number of enhancement attempts is recorded, the system begins adjusting prices based on aggregate player activity and supply-demand estimates.

At this point, prices transition into a gradual and stable data-driven flow.

How are Price Groups Determined?

Enhancement prices are not assigned to each item individually.

Instead, items are grouped into approximately 2,000 categories, determined by:

• Enhancement level range

• Boss/non-boss classification

• Equipment slot (weapon, armor, accessory, etc.)

For example, if a particular item slot and enhancement tier sees a large number of enhancement attempts, the entire category may experience a price increase.

This allows the system to operate as a responsive structure that reflects real-time player demand.

What Stage is the System in Now?

The system is currently in a transitional phase, shifting from the Price Discovery stage to the Price Change stage.

While some early volatility was expected, accumulated player data is allowing the system to move toward a more stable state.

Additionally, boss rewards and field hunting drops have been increased as of today, which is expected to improve the overall value and return on enhancement efforts.

System Observation and Adjustment

MapleStory N is not built on fixed answers.

Instead, the system continuously observes player activity and adjusts accordingly based on collected data.

■ How to Participate

1. Begin by clicking the Event Notifier on the left side of your screen. From the event icon list that appears, select the Mu Lung event icon to accept the “[<Hasty Boost> Path of So Gong] For Endless Growth” quest.

2. Conquer Floor 10 or higher in the Mu Lung Dojo. The Dojo can be accessed via the Dimensional Mirror in major towns or through the Maple Guide (F1). Your highest floor will determine your Belt grade.

3. Once you have your Belt, head to a field suitable for your level. Then, return to the Event Notifier , select the Mu Lung event icon , and choose “[<Hasty Boost> Path of So Gong] Claim Rewards & Info” to enter the Training Chamber.

■ Event Rewards

• Your Belt's grade is based on the highest floor you clear in the Mu Lung Dojo. The higher your Belt's grade, the greater your EXP rewards will be.

• Weekend Special: Don't miss out on double EXP rewards all weekend long! (Saturday and Sunday, UTC+0).

■ Event Notes

• Training Chamber time is shared among all characters on your account.

• Please note the different reset schedules:

• Mu Lung Dojo rankings reset every Monday at 00:00 (UTC+0).

In this special collaboration shop, you may use NESO to purchase the following three types of items.

1. King Pengu Coupon

• This coupon can be redeemed for the King Pengu Pet.

• Upon purchase, the coupon will be delivered to the Maple Storage of your selected world. Using the coupon will grant you the King Pengu Pet and its pet equipment, which can be used for 100 days.

• The King Pengu Coupon is a mintable FT item. The pet and equipment obtained from the coupon, however, are untradeable local items.

1. Pudgy Style Magic Igloo

• This Magic Igloo contains a special collaboration cosmetic item, which is revealed upon opening.

• The Magic Igloo will be delivered to the Maple Storage of your selected world upon purchase. From there, you can move the item to your character's inventory. Please note that once a Magic Igloo is moved to a character's inventory, it cannot be transferred back to Maple Storage.

• To open a Magic Igloo, you will need a Magic Hammer. Magic Hammers can be purchased from the Pudgy Jelly Shop or the Honor EXP Exchange Shop at in-game towns.

1. Pudgy Winter Exclusive Raffle

• The Pudgy Exclusive Raffle offers a chance to win a special, limited-quantity costume set.

• The raffle opens on January 29. You can enter by paying with NESO anytime before the drawing date.

• After the drawing, winning participants will receive the Pengu’s Winter Snowcatcher Set in their selected world's Maple Storage. For non-winning participants, the NESO entry fee will be fully refunded to their wallet.
