1. Basic Controls

The keys to attack, jump, pick up items, or talk to NPCs can be easily changed using shortcut key setting.

2. Setting Shortcut Keys

During character creation, you can choose one of two key type settings.

2.1. Key Type Setting

There are two types of key setting: Basic Key Setting and Secondary Key Setting.

2.1.1. Basic Key Settting

This layout is suitable for players who are familiar with origial MapleStory Controls.

2.1.2. Secondary Key Setting

This layout is suitable for players who are more familiar with other online games.

2.2. Key Bindings

Check the shortcut key settings by clicking [Key Bindings] in Setting menu.

Set shortcut keys by dragging frequently used items, skills, functions, expressions, chat emoticons, etc. and placing them on the desired key.

2.3. Deleting Shortcut Keys

Delete set shortcut keys by right-clicking or double-clicking on the shortcut key.

(However, if there are no remaining copies on an item registered to a shortcut key, the item shortcut key can only be deleted by right-clicking.)

You can change the key layout at any time by clicking the "Reset" button at the bottom of the Key Bindings window.

  • When you click "Reset" button, a pop-up will appear where you can select the key setting layout. After selecting a layout, all previously added/changed shortcut keys will be removed.

When you click "Remove All" button, all key settings will be removed, including the default key settings.

3. Setting Quickslots

Frequently used keyboard settings can be saved in quickslots.

Set your desired items or skills by dragging them to the slots at the bottom right of the screen.

Right-click on a quickslot to remove its settings.

Expand the quick slots by clicking on the gray bar, or by pressing the shortcut key (Default: ] ) .

※ Settings made to either the quickslots or the Key Bindings will be reflected in the other.

3.1. Changing Quickslots

1) Click [Settings] > [Options] > [Game] > "Change Quickslots"

2) Click "Change Quickslots" at the bottom of the Key Bindings window

Click on the action you want to assign and press the key you with to assign it to. You can change the quickslots by clicking"Apply Changes" button after the setting.

4. Setting Skill Macros

Skill macros allow you to use up to 3 skills with one button.

You can set skill macros through the "MACRO" button at the bottom right of the skill window (shortcut key [Default: K]).

1) Drag your desired skill and place it in a skill macro slot (1).

2) Add the skill macro icon (2) to the shortcut key/quickslot.

  • Skills that have a cooldown, some summoning skills, and some attack skills cannot be registered to macros.

  • When using a skill macro, skills will be activated in order from the front slot.

4.1. Custom Skill Names

To create your own skill name, enter the name you would like, check the "SHOUT THE SKILL NAME" box, and click the "CONFIRM" button.

When using a skill macro, the name you created will be entered in the chat window.

Skill names can be set up to 12 Bytes long. (Single alphabet letter is 1 Byte.)

5. Talking to NPCs

Talk to an NPC by clicking on the NPC with your mouse, or by approaching the NPC and pressing the [SPACE] key.

NPCs with available quests will have a blinking lightbulb above their head.

When talking to an NPC, a pop-window will display with the quest information and conversation dialogue.

You can continue a conversation with an NPC by clicking the "NEXT" button or pressing [SPACE] key. When you have an available quest, you can click "ACCEPT" button or press [SPACE] key to start the quest.

A MapleStory Book button will appear above an NPC's head if a quest can be completed.

You can obtain quest rewards by clicking the button.

6. Hunting Monsters & Obtaining Items

You can hunt a monster by approaching it and using a skill shortcut key or Basic Attack key (shortcut key [Default: Ctrl]).

Once a monster is successfully hunted, you will gain a certain amount of EXP and items may drop in set probability.

Pick up dropped items and NESOLET by approaching them and pressing using Pick Up key (shortcut key [Default: Z]).
